From saving the rainforests to saving our planet –
a local UU scientists’ personal journey
Dr. Brian Rasnow
Dept. of Applied Physics, CSUCI and
Chief Scientist and Cofounder, Etaluma Inc.
What are the facts vs. hype about climate change and global warming, and how can one be sure? How does the architecture of our brains and the workings of our mind impede our abilities to comprehend and respond to these slow, global challenges?
Dr. Brian Rasnow will share his personal perspectives, derived from over 35 years working to save tropical rain forests, helping the rural poor in Latin America, and teaching global warming. Rasnow studied physics and neurobiology at Caltech, and is now an organic farmer, inventor, and teaches art, astronomy, biology, chemistry, English, math, and physics at CSUCI. His colorful presentation will illustrate how he arrived at his conclusions about global warming and what our prospects are to deal with its likely consequences. An open discussion will follow the presentation.
