After the most divisive and bizarre election cycle in modern history, how do we move forward, prepared to do the work necessary, now more than ever, for the causes of social justice? How do we listen, talk to each other, and build bridges with those with whom we most disagree?

Hear more about the ways our national conversation has been manipulated, contributing to the loss of civility in public discussion, and what you can do about it. Learn tools of mindful communication to connect in a positive way with people in your family and community who seem to live in a different world when the topic of politics arises.

Join us for an interactive training with Erin and Dave Ninehouser (via Skype) of The HearYourselfThink Project, and mindful communications expert Charlie Rebich (in person), facilitator of the groundbreaking new project, “Real Conversations: Beyond the Divide.”

RSVP: Space is limited to 100 participants. Please send RSVPs and questions to Randall Edwards at rsvp@chaliceuu.org.

About the presenters:

The HearYourselfThink Project (hearyourselfthink.org) is a 501(c)3 non-profit fighting against fake news and its harmful effects on the minds of American citizens. With a decade of experience knocking on 100,000 doors throughout the Rust Belt, the team at HYT has developed a proven methodology to help people break free from the fear-inducing narratives of Fox News and other right-wing media and to rebuild the habits of critical thinking that are the foundation of democracy itself. Dave and Erin Ninehouser of HearYourselfThink can teach you how to break down walls of polarization, cultivate self-reflection and create moments of insight about media influence.

Charlie Rebich is a practicing mediator and mindfulness and communication coach. He works with individuals and organizations to optimize their communication skills, get them beyond conflict and into the “Zone” (www.intothe.zone). He recently launched a new project, “Real Conversations: Beyond the Divide,” with the goal of helping facilitate a national grassroots movement to empower citizens to have real conversations that get past polarization and enable us to better govern ourselves and create solutions to our country’s problems together. Charlie will help to build your capacity to have honest, authentic and meaningful conversations about any subject with friends, co-workers and family without creating hostility, anger or bad feelings.
