Ordinary People Do Extraordinary Things

Linda VerNooy, former Executive Director of Global Warming Action, and founder of NetGreen, Inc. will talk about how 30 ordinary people succeeded in passing the first bill on global warming in the State of Washington in 2002.

Democracy at the state level has seen challenges in our nation during the past year.  Yet, it is through actions taken by states that change is pioneered. How do ordinary citizens create change in government at any level?  How do people work with political leaders effectively?  How is change created in our polarized political environment?  What have been the results of the policies of state governments on the west coast in the area of climate change?  These and other topics will be presented and discussed.
