Religious Exploration at Chalice!

A place for wonder. A place for fun.

Welcome, welcome everyone!

Chalice Family Update

December 5, 2024

In December, our theme is the Practice of Presence

Knock Knock

Sunday morning at 10am

with Matt Chapa

Every one knows “knock knock” jokes as the are variations of a well trod formula that are never really funny, if just barely amusing… The focus of the service will be on the power of really having a NEW year, versus a revised and updated last year through the power of being open to the presence of being present, versus just being on auto-pilot and reacting. Waking up each day in a sort of Groundhog Day reality versus jumping off the cliff in a Butch & Sundance or Thelma & Louise or Harold & Maude fashion of living in the moment and harvesting a bracing version of what we could be.

Families welcome! The Joy Corner is open!

Children will be led by the Lamp of Love to their RE spaces partway through the service.

December 8–

Bagel Buddies – It’s another Social Justice Sunday! Children will prepare bagels and smears during RE. They will gather on the patio after the service to sell and serve these yummy goodies.

Each week we will offer book suggestions for all ages, books that celebrate diverse identities, resist stereotypes, and uplift social justice. Whether you choose to purchase the books, borrow them from a friend, or check them out from your local library, we hope you enjoy these stories featuring characters from a wide range of communities.

Freckleface Strawberry by Julieanne Moore (ages 5-8)

I Have the Right to Be a Child by Alain Serres (ages 5-9)
