Breathe. Hold each other and breathe.

You have all been on my mind and in my heart for the past week. I have seen your faces and heard your voices around every corner. I have sent out prayers, both silent and vocal. I have waited with bated breath to hear that we are all safe and accounted for. I know I am not alone in these feelings. I know I am not the only one who has shed tears for all that our community has lost.

Knowing any one of us can reach out at a moment’s notice to ask for solace, and knowing that request will be answered, gives me peace. For that peace, I am grateful. Isn’t this meant to be a time for gratitude? How do we join together, hand in hand, to treasure all that was and all that is? My friends, that IS what we are doing. Do you see? It is possible to grieve while at the same time be grateful for all we hold dear. We shed tears out of love for all our losses. Be thankful for that love. Be thankful we are here together. Be thankful for all who hold us with care, be they stranger or friend.

Moving forward gives us an opportunity to honor the precious lives lost as well as cherished lands that have been scarred. In this season of good will toward all people, lift them up. The gentle spirits of this land and these people will be in deep appreciation of you.

Holding you all in love and gratitude…
