The Sons and Daughters of Life

Throughout January we are exploring the theme of INTENTION from different perspectives.  We will begin by examining the power of intention on a global scale. While much of society sees weapons as a solution instead of a problem, our world community calls us towards intentionally building a peaceful, sustainable future for all life on our planet. During this month we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and explore the Promise and Practice of our Faith and how we as a community can learn about and actively support the Black Lives of UU Movement. As the month continues, and we reflect on what we wish to create at CVUUF, we will discover the power of setting a collective intention as a community. We end the month with a tribute to our children, and how raising our next generation with intention can create the world we long for. Join us for an inspiring month focused on how being intentional in our lives can transform our world.

Return to the Home of Your Soul

In these days of overwhelming social, environmental and political challenges, we can easily succumb to exhaustion and despair, finding ourselves in deep need of renewed inspiration and motivation. As we begin this month of Growing Together in Renewal we’ll explore how renewal often comes through returning to something we have left behind or forgotten. How do we move forward by reconnecting and remembering?

Looking Outward Together

As we begin this month focused on “Growing Together in Faith”, we reflect on the words of French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: “Life has taught us that love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.” Carol Flanagan and Paul Chavez, married for nearly three decades, will speak of the evolving place of faith in their personal history and the place faith inhabits in their lives today. First drawn together by a passion for art, a common history of childhood Catholicism, and a deep interest in Buddhism, they share their journey to make meaningful lives through creative action and experiences.
